Kate Sequeira is an audience engagement editor at the Los Angeles Times, covering early childhood education. Prior to joining the L.A. Times, she was a journalism resident at nonprofit education news outlet EdSource, covering Los Angeles Unified — the second largest school system in the country. She is also a former general assignment reporter and web/social media producer at San Diego-based investigative nonprofit inewsource. She once oversaw the L.A. Times Reading by 9 literacy initiative as a production specialist. Kate graduated from the University of Southern California with degrees in journalism and contemporary Latino and Latin American studies. There, Kate was selected for the Order of the Laurel and the Palm, the highest undergraduate honor accorded to less than 1% of graduates. She served as editor-in-chief of the Daily Trojan before graduating.
